Nook

Download Nook

Free on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Reading needs no account, so there is nothing to sign up for once it is installed.

iPhone and iPad

Nook is on the App Store, and needs iOS or iPadOS 18 or later.

Download Nook on the App Store

Mac

The Mac app is a native build of its own, not the iPhone app running on Apple silicon, and it comes from here rather than from the App Store. It is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens like any other app, and it updates itself after that. It needs macOS 26 or later.

Install with Homebrew

brew install --cask nooker-app/tap/nook

Click the command to select all of it, then press ⌘C.

The cask lives in nooker-app/homebrew-tap and installs the same disk image as the button below, so Homebrew is a convenience rather than a different build.

Or download the disk image

Download Nook for Mac

That downloads the current build directly. Open the image and drag Nook into Applications. Every release, current and past, is listed on the releases page.

If you also want to write

Nook Plus is an optional feature that gives you a small website with an RSS feed, and stores what you write in a repository that belongs to you. Nothing about reading depends on it, and it is invite-only while the service is being proved out.

This invitation is open to anyone reading this page, until 30 September 2026:

LYWTC9HK-ULHLY7BR-UDZE32BS-ZBQ55TG2

Enter it where Nook asks for an invitation. With Nook already installed, this link opens the app with the code filled in.

The invitation carries a fixed number of accounts, so it can run out before that date. How publishing works →
